If Rutgers becomes a contender in the Big Ten in the next few years, the summer of 2013 could be looked upon as the reason why.
The 2014 class in New Jersey is one of the strongest it has
www.italia-hollistermilano.net been recently with 13 prospects with a Scout Grade of 81 or higher. Ten are ESPN 300 prospects. During the spring as Michigan and Notre Dame raided the state and several other prospects were looking elsewhere, it looked like 2014 was going to be a repeat of 2013 in state for Rutgers. In the 2013 class, Rutgers signed just two of the state s top 15 players.
But on Thursday, ESPN 300 running back Jonathan Hilliman (Jersey City, N.J./St. Peter s Prep), continued the summer trend of Rutgers landing the top players from New Jersey, turning

Jonathan Hilliman is the latest ESPN 300 member see Red.
The Jersey City (N.J.) St. Peter s Prep running back committed to Rutgers in a news conference at his high school. Multiple news
polo ralph lauren outlets, including the Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger, attended the event and reported Hilliman's commitment.
He is the fourth ESPN 300 prospect from New Jersey to commit this summer.
Hilliman, No. 286 in the ESPN 300, had several national offers, but it was Rutgers who was showing the most interest as his recruitment came to a close. He named Ohio State as his leader following a visit to Columbus in June, but a July visit to Rutgers propelled the Scarlet Knights to the top and Hilliman planned a commitment shortly after that visit. He canceled visits to Miami, Michigan and Vanderbilt after his Rutgers visit.
It is not the first time a nationally ranked running back from St. Peter s Prep chose to stay home at Rutgers. Savon Huggins, the No. 4 running back in 2011, is a junior at Rutgers. Hilliman is No. 25 among running backs nationally.
Rutgers class of 22 commitments is ranked No. 21 nationally, although that ranking does not take Hilliman s pledge into effect.
